Redmond seeks bike-pedestrian count volunteers

KTVZ

In the continued effort to build a safe network to encourage biking and walking in Redmond, the City of Redmond Bicycle and the Redmond Pedestrian Advisory Committee is looking for volunteers to help conduct the annual bicycle and pedestrian counts.

Two years ago, with the first counts, a baseline of bicycle and pedestrian users in the community was established. The purpose of this year’s counts and future counts is to measure the progress of community marketing efforts and the impact of physical improvements to the bicycle and pedestrian network, as well as helping to build support for future improvements.

We need volunteers for two-hour shifts to sit at designated locations and count users on Thursday, September 15, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and/or Saturday, September 17, from noon to 2 p.m. Training and safety gear will be provided. Volunteers will be treated to a free pizza party! Thank you and please pass this on to others.

It’s easy to volunteer one of two ways:

-Go to the City of Redmond website (http://www.ci.redmond.or.us/) and reserve your favorite location and access important information.

-Contact Scott Woodford with the City of Redmond either by email: scott.woodford@ci.redmond.or.us or by calling 541-923-7758
