Trail closure extended near Swampy Lakes Trailhead

KTVZ

The Deschutes National Forest has extended the temporary closure on the Swampy Lakes Loop trail at Swampy Lakes Trailhead west of Bend through September 15.

The trail closure, 15 miles west of Bend, remains in place seven days a week through the middle of September while contractors remove dead standing trees on both sides of the trail. While the trail is closed, visitors are encouraged to use the many miles of trails in the area that remain open every day.

Contractors have also reported mountain bikers riding past the closure near logging equipment. As a reminder, equipment operators may not be able to see you which puts both the rider and operator at risk. We encourage visitors to prioritize their safety and the safety of others on the forest and KNOW BEFORE YOU GO by bookmarking our interactive map: http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/webmaps/deschutes/west-bend/
