KIDS Center joins in ‘#Giving Tuesday’

KTVZ

KIDS Center, a multi-disciplinary child abuse intervention center dedicated to the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of child abuse, has joined the global #GivingTuesday movement.

Held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving every year and on November 29 , 2016, the #GivingTuesday campaign harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

KIDS Center is delighted to announce that a long-time KIDS Center advocate and donor, will match, dollar for dollar, #GivingTuesday donations up to $5,000 during this year’s campaign.

Robin Antonson, Director of Development & Prevention at KIDS Center, shares: “KIDS Center encapsulates everything that #GivingTuesday stands for. We were built by the community and for the community. Our participation in #GivingTuesday has been made special by the support of a KIDS Center friend and donor who generously offered to match each donation that comes in on #GivingTuesday.”

With the goal of inspiring local communities to give back in impactful ways during the “consumer season” following the Thanksgiving holiday, #GivingTuesday is a new avenue for the community to directly affect positive change for many children and families in Central Oregon.

Antonson highlights, “Every contribution to KIDS Center directly affirms our mission to prevent, evaluate, and treat child abuse in our community. The robust and diverse services that KIDS Center provides for children and their families in Central Oregon positively affects the lives of thousands of people in our community.”

KIDS Center has two goals for the #GivingTuesday campaign:

· Raise $5,000 for the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of child abuse.

· Build a team of Social Media Champions who can help KIDS Center raise awareness of child abuse.

KIDS Center, formed in 1994 by a number of members of the Central Oregon community, employs a professional team of Medical Examiners, Forensic Interviewers, Family Support Specialists, Therapists, Prevention Specialists, and Development Personnel. KIDS Center also works with a multi-disciplinary team, including local law enforcement agencies, the district attorney’s office, and DHS child welfare, to prevent, evaluate, and treat child abuse in our community. Over 50% of KIDS Center’s annual operating budget is generated by local donor support.

Participants who wish to contribute to KIDS Center on #GivingTuesday can do so by calling the main office number, (541) 383-5958 , stopping by in person, anytime during open hours, 8 AM – 5 PM, Monday – Friday , or via the KIDS Center website, www.kidscenter.org .
