Downed Tigard power line injures cyclist, delays school
TIGARD, Ore. (AP) — A downed power line in Tigard hit and injured a woman passing by on a bike and blocked the only exit for a parking area holding area school buses.
The downed line early Wednesday cause a local power outage and meant school started at least two hours late for students in the Tigard-Tualatin School District.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reports (http://bit.ly/2gBwj99) that a 50-year-old man faces suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing into a power pole.
Jim Wolf, Tigard police spokesman, says an officer standing outside rushed to the woman’s aid and she was taken to the burn unit at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.
The crash took out power to the police stations and City Hall.
