Guilty plea in S. Oregon double-homicide
GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) — A homeless man has been sentenced to two consecutive life sentences after pleading guilty to killing a retired couple during a burglary north of Grants Pass.
The Grants Pass Daily Courier (https://is.gd/uq7KKX ) reports 30-year-old Brian S. Killian will have no chance for parole.
He entered the home of Jerry and Joann Jackson on June 15, 2015. Killian fought with the 75-year-old man before grabbing a 12-inch knife and stabbing him to death.
Joann Jackson checked on the commotion and then fled into the laundry room when she saw Killian with the knife. He stabbed the 73-year-old repeatedly before moving on to stab her two labradoodle dogs. One died later from the wounds.
Prosecutors said they would have sought the death penalty if the case had gone to trial.
