Man charged with riot after Portland protest
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police arrested one man following a protest that disrupted downtown traffic.
Sgt. Pete Simpson says 19-year-old Zachary Lange was charged with riot because of an encounter with a motorist Thursday evening.
Protesters said they wanted justice for a teenager who was shot and killed by a Portland police officer on Feb. 9. Police said the 17-year-old was a suspect in an armed robbery and had a replica firearm.
Thursday’s protest disrupted traffic for several hours. There were some reports of vandalism.
