Oregon joins Wash. in lawsuit challenging new travel ban

KTVZ

Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum announced late Thursday that the state has been granted its request to join the federal lawsuit brought by the Washington attorney general against President Trump’s revised executive order pertaining to his immigration ban.

On Feb. 23, Oregon filed its motion to intervene in the Western District of Washington. The court granted the motion Thursday.

Shortly before the court’s ruling, the Washington attorney general announced that he will amend the lawsuit early next week to include Oregon, New York and possibly other states.

Rosenblum issued this statement about the executive order and lawsuit:

“I am pleased that several state attorneys general are combining our resources to continue to fight the president’s attempt to fulfill a campaign promise of banning Muslims from entering the United States.

“Though repackaged, the president’s revised executive order has the same discriminatory intent as the first one.

“The president lost the first round in court. We will continue to assert the Constitution and the rule of law in arguing that his second attempt is seriously flawed and should join its sister executive order in the trash bin of history.”
