Crook County hires public health medical officer
Crook County Health & Human Services is pleased to announce Natalie Good, DO, has been hired as the new part-time public health medical officer for Crook County.
Health departments are required to have a health officer through Oregon statutes and Dr. Good brings her supportive community work and enthusiasm for improved health to her new position. Dr. Good is replacing Dr. Laura Gratton of Mosaic Medical, who has served as the health officer for the last three years.
“Successful public health outcomes and a safer community are made possible with the leadership of our health officer and public health department director,” said Muriel DeLaVergne-Brown. “We are very fortunate to have Natalie join our team.”
Dr. Good will provide consultation to the nursing staff on public health issues including communicable disease, health promotion and emerging health issues in Crook County.
“The health department plays a critical role in helping to realize the vision of St. Charles Health System vision of ‘Creating America’s healthiest community, together,'” said John Bishop, president of St. Charles Prineville and St. Charles Madras hospitals. “We are thrilled that Dr. Good is taking on this responsibility and look forward to increasing collaboration towards increasing the overall health of Crook County.”
Dr. Good, who practices at St. Charles Family Care in Prineville, received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University and completed her residency program at McKay-Dee Family Medicine Residency in Ogden, Utah. Dr. Good comes from a small community in Oklahoma and is excited to be practicing in a place with the excitement and energy that Prineville has. She has a special interest in treating musculoskeletal and chronic diseases, particularly diabetes and heart disease, and also has a passion for geriatrics and end-of-life care.
Dr. Good and her husband enjoy road, gravel and mountain biking; skiing, hiking and playing with their two dogs, Chulo and Hank. They also own and operate Good Bike Co. in Prineville and founded The Ochoco Gravel Roubaix, a gravel bicycle race that raises money for local charities.
“I am excited to be part of the health, wellness and safety of this great county and am looking forward to my new role as public health medical officer,” she said.
