Three Prineville teens escape serious injury in rollover crash

Three Prineville teens escaped serious injury in the rollover crash of their car west of Prineville Monday morning, but all went to the hospital and the driver was cited in lieu of custody on charges of reckless driving and recklessly endangering another, Crook County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies and medics were dispatched around 9 a.m. to the area of Northwest O’Neil Highway near Peacock Walk on the reported single-vehicle crash, said Deputy Dan Smith.

They arrived to find a 1996 Accura Integra with significant damage off the highway’s westbound lane, he said.

An investigation determined the car driven by Tylar Trimmell, 19,, was heading west when he lost control while negotiating a curve and the car slid off the side of the highway, sinking into the soft shoulder and causing the car to roll for about 300 feet before coming to a stop beside the highway, Smith said.

Trimmell and two passengers, Destiny Miller, 19, and Emily Bugarin, 18, were taken to St. Charles Prineville for treatment of minor injuries. Smith noted that all three were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Smith said in a news release that witnesses reported the car “was traveling at an exceedingly high rate of speed at the time of the crash.”
