Dave Williams, the Athletic Director for Bend Senior High School, was recently named the 5A Athletic Director of the Year by the Oregon Athletic Directors Association.

Williams has worked for Bend-La Pine Schools for 21 years and was recently honored as the Certified staff person of the year for Bend Senior High School. Williams started serving as the AD three years ago.

Prior to that, he was a baseball coach and Bend Senior High and Mountain View High School and taught physical education and served as the Dean of Students at La Pine Middle School.

As athletic director, Williams arranges schedules, works with coaches and serves behind the scenes as an advocate for coaches and students and to ensure athletic events run smoothly. He attends as many athletic events as possible to support the programs.

“My favorite part of this job is watching the students perform. That’s the ultimate,” said Williams. “I love watching how coaches take a team from the start of the season to end and the growth that happens for our students at all levels.”

The AD of the year is selected for making significant contributions to their school, community, league and the OADA organization.
