Man, 90, dies after tree falls at senior home near Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A 90-year-old man has died from injuries suffered when a tree fell at a senior care home in West Linn.

Authorities say Robert Ruff was sitting on a patio Thursday afternoon when the tree came down.

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue took Ruff to a Portland hospital, where he later died.

Crews that responded believe the tree fell because it was old, not because of a storm that moved through parts of the Portland metro area.

West Linn spokeswoman Courtney Flynn said Friday the city will conduct an investigation.
