St. Charles Madras expansion, remodel opens next month
Phase 2 of the St. Charles Madras expansion and remodel, including the new Emergency Department, operating suite and Imaging Department, are set to open on Sunday, June 18, hospital officials announced Monday .
The Emergency Department at the current east entrance location will close at 4 a.m. that day. Any patient entering prior to this time will be seen and treated.
Those patients presenting for emergency treatment after 4 a.m. should go to the new Emergency Department entrance, on the north side of the hospital. Signage will be changed at that time to indicate the new entrance. Staff also will be on hand to assist with directions and questions.
The expanded and enhanced Emergency Department encompasses 14 points of care, including a new patient check-in and waiting area, a two-patient trauma room, a large exam room capable of caring for two patients, a flex room with an in-room shower and restroom for extended Emergency Department stays or caring for two patients, an enhanced triage room and eight exam rooms.
The new surgical suite includes two new operating rooms, a new procedure room and four new prep/recovery rooms.
The new Imaging department includes a CT room, two x-ray rooms, ultrasound, mammography and echo/EKG.
The remaining construction in Phase 3 is expected to open this fall and will include an expanded laboratory located within the hospital, a central registration and waiting area servicing all areas except rehabilitation and Emergency Department, and an enhanced hospital entrance and parking.
“St. Charles Health System is committed to honoring the promise of expanded services for the Madras and Warm Springs community made during the transition from Mountain View Hospital to St. Charles Madras,” Monday’s announcement said.
