Eugene jury convicts man, 80, in landlord’s murder
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A jury in Eugene needed only 2 ½ hours to find an 80-year-old man guilty of murdering his landlady.
The Register-Guard reports (https://is.gd/uJkzYn ) Howard Stull will be sentenced to life in prison next week. He showed no visible reaction when receiving the verdict Thursday.
A medical examiner said the victim Kathy Braun suffered 55 stabbing and slashing wounds in the July 23, 2015, attack that left her dead in the garage of her home.
Stull had rented a bedroom from Braun for about 10 months. He testified that he acted in self-defense when Braun approached him with a large knife.
