(Update: Adding video, details)

A 20-foot travel trailer caught on fire late Wednesday morning in Redmond.

Fire crews were able to knock the fire down before it spread to nearby trees and homes. It started in a trailer parked on 26th Street and Reindeer Avenue.

A person driving by saw the smoke and called 911, officials said.

Fire crews arrived around 11:25 a.m. and were able to very quickly put the fire out.

No one was inside the trailer when it caught fire, and no one was home at the nearby house.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the travel trailer and the surrounding area, Redmond Fire Marshal Traci Cooper said. A fence and some trees were damaged by the fire.

There have been several fires in Central Oregon already, and fire crews are on high alert, said Redmond Fire Marshal Traci Cooper.

“Humidity is down and risks for fire are higher,” Cooper said. “We experienced a lot of those, as everybody is aware of in Central Oregon and surrounding areas.”

“In the state of Oregon, there have been quite a few fires already this season,” she said. “So yeah, we are paying attention.”

“Luckily when this call came in, everybody was in house, so quick response,” she added.

Pacific Power responded to assist, as flames were reaching power lines near the trailer.

There were no injuries. Officials said the cause of the fire was under investigation and had no immediate damage estimate.
