K-Falls loses air service; TSA workers driven to Medford

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – The end of commercial air service in Klamath Falls has led to a long commute for some Transportation Security Administration employees.
 
The Herald and News (https://is.gd/h28ikR ) reports that about a dozen TSA employees started working in Medford on Monday.
 
TSA spokesman Nico Melendez says the employees are being taken to Medford for work and then “we’ll drive them back to Klamath.” It’s about an hour and a half drive.
 
Pen Air announced earlier this month it was stopping air service to Klamath Falls and other cities. The company then announced a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.
 
The relocation of TSA employees to Medford is planned as a short-term solution. A longer-term solution will be sought if service doesn’t return to Klamath Falls.
