Hillsboro mom charged with leaving kids to get tattoo
HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A Hillsboro mother has been charged with child neglect after authorities say she left her two young children alone in a park while she went to get a new tattoo.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Department said Monday that 28-year-old Ana Lara was arrested Saturday after another family found the 3-year-old and the 8-year-old in the park restroom.
The children had gone into the restroom when it started to rain and they got scared.
Authorities believe the children were alone for an hour before they were found.
Lara was charged with two counts of criminal mistreatment, two counts of reckless endangerment and child neglect in the second degree.
The children were placed with a family member.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Lara had an attorney.
