PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police have arrested a driver who they say struck and killed a blind pedestrian in North Portland.
Sgt. Pete Simpson of the Portland Police Bureau says 34-year-old Ryan Gawick has been booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of criminally negligent homicide.
The collision happened Monday, shortly before sunrise at the intersection of North Columbia Boulevard and North Interstate Place. Simpson says the driver was behind the wheel of a black 2014 Ford Mustang, and the pedestrian died at a hospital shortly after the crash.
The pedestrian’s name will be released after his family is notified.
