Portland-area man gets 7 years for assault of boy
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland-area man accused of throwing down his then-girlfriend’s 2-year-old – causing the boy to spend a month in the hospital – has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reports (http://bit.ly/2fvpXcs ) 32-year-old Thomas John Robert Allen was sentenced on Friday after a Clackamas County jury found him guilty of first-degree assault and first-degree criminal mistreatment for the 2014 incident.
Prosecutors say the boy had part of his skull removed to alleviate pressure to his brain and had to regain much of his mobility and cognitive functions.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Bryan Brock says the boy is now 6 years old and has titanium mesh covering the places where his skull was removed.
