S. Oregon man sentenced to 25 years in drug-fueled killing
MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A southern Oregon man will serve at least 25 years in prison after authorities say he admitted to killing a man he considered his friend in a drug-fueled dispute.
The Mail Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2xO77UL) 25-year-old Frank Joseph Hernandez Jr. was sentenced after pleading guilty to murder Thursday in Jackson County Circuit Court.
Authorities say he was high on drugs when he shot 25-year-old Jordan Scott Andres of Medford last April.
Police said Hernandez then used death threats to coerce two people to help him flee the scene before his capture in Gold Hill late the next day.
Hernandez apologized to Andres’ family, telling them he doesn’t know what he was thinking when he shot Andres, but knows he “didn’t hate him.”
