Pacific Power fixes outage to 115 Prineville customers

(Update: Power restored by 1 a.m.)

An underground equipment failure with a flash and a bang knocked out power to more than 100 Pacific Power customers for several hours Monday night, a utility official said.

The problem occurred just before 9 p.m. on the south side of the city, and while Pacific Power spokesman Tom Gauntt said it wasn’t necessarily an explosion, but those in the area likely heard and saw it happen.

After the problem was found, officials said it could take until 2:30 a.m. Tuesday to restore power to all of the 115 affected. But an online map showed power was back by 1 a.m.

Gauntt said it can take longer to find and fix underground issues.
