Local Alert Weather – Thurs. PM

KTVZ

Happy Thursday evening, everyone!

Snow showers are expected to wrap up in the region tonight. Once we take the turn into midnight we’ll see a clearing overhead and temperatures will be frigid. Roads and surfaces will be icy and slippery tomorrow morning. Lows will fall into the single digits with many getting close to zero. Winds will be light out of the northwest.

Friday begins with some sunshine, but will see increasing clouds throughout the day. Highs will top out in the low to mid 30s, which is still well below average. By the late afternoon snow showers will return to the Cascades. If you’re traveling across the passes this weekend make sure you have chains or traction tires as many of the passes have been making them a requirement lately.

Snow showers stick to the Cascades until we take the turn into Saturday. By Saturday morning Central Oregon can expect some snow on the ground likely totaling a few inches. Winds will kick up on Saturday gusting around 40 miles per hour out of the northwest. Highs will be chilly once again in the low to mid 30s. Most of the day Saturday looks dry until the next system rolls in on Sunday.

Sunday will see a mix of showers as temperatures will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Snow levels will hike up briefly in the morning and afternoon below falling again by the evening. Snow will accumulate on Sunday. At this time it’s looking like Central Oregon will see 1-3″.
