Passport processing fee goes up next week

KTVZ

Starting Monday, April 2, the passport execution/processing fee will increase from $25 to $35. The $10 fee increase is mandated by the Department of State, the Deschutes County Clerk’s Office reported.

The new fee only applies to people who are:

● applying for a passport for the first time

● renewing a passport that was originally issued when the individual was under the age of 16

● renewing a passport that was issued more than 15 years ago

● replacing a lost or stolen passport

● and for parents who are applying for a child under the age of 16

Passport applications can be submitted to the Deschutes County Clerk’s Office, which is located at 1300 Wall Street in Bend. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is currently taking four to six weeks to process a passport that is not expedited.
