Road to Tumalo Falls closes for overlook repair

KTVZ

The Deschutes National Forest was temporarily closing Forest Road 4603, which offers access to Tumalo Falls Day use area, overlooks and parking area, Monday afternoon. The gate to this area will be closed to allow for contractors to repair the upper overlook on Tuesday.

Officials said a recent routine inspection of the upper overlook showed a small defect in a weld on the underside of the platform.

In order to repair the weld, forest officials will be pulling up some of the boards on the platform. After the weld is repaired and reinspected, a temporary floor will be placed on the overlook so the area can safely reopen to the public on Wednesday.

Forest Road 4603, which accesses Tumalo Falls, will be open to the public again on Wednesday. All areas of Tumalo Falls including the Day use area and overlooks will be open and accessible to the public at that time.
