Salem pilot killed in crash of small plane
A 40-year-old Salem man was killed in the crash of a small plane Monday afternoon near a private runway east of Salem, Marion County sheriff’s deputies said Tuesday.
Deputies said Norman Newton was flying his Kit Fox 1 plane alone when he crashed for unknown reasons and died at the scene off Lardon Road NE.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were investigating the crash.
