Bend woman accused of assault in court
A Bend woman accused of assaulting another woman after a crash in May appeared before a Deschutes County Circuit Court judge on Tuesday.
Megan Stackhouse, 34, was arraigned on one misdemeanor count of fourth-degree assault.
According to prosecutors, Stackhouse hit another car, and then got out and punched the 55-year-old driver.
District Attorney John Hummel told NewsChannel 21 on Monday that he couldn’t speak on the pending case.
Stackhouse, her right arm wrapped in a bandage, appeared with her public defender and was ordered to not have any contact with the alleged victim. The judge also directed her to be booked and fingerprinted.
Stackhouse also was involved in a road rage incident earlier this month, claiming to be a victim.
The suspect in that case, Jay Barbeau of Redmond, was released from the Deschutes CountyJail on Monday after Hummel dropped the charges. He said investigators now believe Stackhouse had made false statements to police about how she received her injuries.
Stackhouse refused to speak to NewsChannel 21 on Tuesday, telling reporter Pedro Quintana she didn’t have any comment, in regards to Barbeau.
Hummel said the road rage case is still under investigation.
Stackhouse and her passenger, Lucinda Mann, could face charges for making false statements.
Stackhouse is scheduled to return to court July 18 for entry of plea.
