Man accused of trying to bribe ICE to deport estranged wife

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A 48-year-old Portland man has been accused of trying to bribe a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in an effort to have his estranged wife and daughter deported.

The Oregon U.S. Attorney’s Office says Antonio Burgos tried to bribe the officer on three separate occasions. Burgos made an initial court appearance Friday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Papak.

Burgos pleaded not guilty and was released pending a two-day trial scheduled to begin Aug. 28.

A phone number believed to his was not answering Friday.
