Local Alert Weather, Thu. AM, 8.23.18

KTVZ

Good Thursday Morning, Everyone…

Due to heavy wildfire smoke a Moderate to Unhealthy air quality is expected to stay with us for much of the day, despite seeing clear skies overhead. The Air Quality Alert put in place by The National Weather Service is slated to be lifted at noon today, but that does not mean that we are done with the smoke. Wildfires continue to burn throughout the region and many points to the north. With a northerly and NW airflow we can expect smoke to stay in our air for awhile. Highs today will be in the mid 80’s. NW winds will pick up to 10-15 mph with some areas seeing gusts to 20-25 mph.

Smoke will stay in the air tonight under mostly clear skies. Lows will dip into the 40’sand NW winds will stay gusty right up to about midnight.

A weak cold front advancing on the Pacific NW will pass over our region tonight. It will be the cause of some gusty breezes. Tucked in behind that front is a body of cooler air that will have us a little more comfortable from Friday through the weekend. Daytime highs are expected to be in the mid 70’s with overnight lows in the low to mid 40’s. Sunshine and a slight warming trend will have us in the low 80’s as we get into the middle of next week.

HAVE A SPARKLIING DAY IN CENTRAL OREGON!
