Smoke prompts Summit HS to delay football games

KTVZ

(Update: Adding soccer games on as planned)

With wildfire smoke lingering in Bend, Summit High School announced Friday that due to poor air quality, it is postponing the varsity and junior varsity football games 24 hours until Saturday afternoon and evening.

An incoming weather front is expected to mix out the wildfire smoke that has brought moderate to unhealthy levels of smoke to the High Desert.

Grants Pass is the visiting team, and the JV will play at 3 p.m. Saturday and varsity game at 6 p.m.

There was no word from any other Central Oregon schools of delays or schedule changes due to the smoke.

Bend-La Pine Schools spokeswoman says two soccer games scheduled Friday night were still going on. She noted the Bend air quality index was at “moderate” levels and had been improving since early morning.
