(Update: Fire contained, adding video)
A brushfire broke out along Highway 126 between Sisters and Redmond Tuesday afternoon, closing one lane of the road and prompting a multi-agency attack, officials said.
The fire, Incident 1212, was reported around 2:15 p.m. on BLM land near milepost 101 and had burned about 3/4 of an acre in less than an hour. Crews on scene said they had stopped the fire’s forward progress by around 3 p.m. and had a hose line around it by 3:30 p.m.
Engine crews, a bulldozer and an air attack was involved, according to the Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch Center. A spotter plane was making sure there were no spot fires. The fire prompted no evacuations.
It was considered contained before 6:30 p.m.
ODOT closed one eastbound lane to traffic, but there was a passing lane in the vicinity and no delays were expected. Check traffic conditions at our TripCheck page.
