Local Alert Weather, Fri. AM, 1.4.19
Good Friday Morning, Everyone…
A system centered off the southern British Columbia coast is responsible for pulling moisture and warm air into the Pacific NW today. For us highs will be in the upper 40’s to low 50’s and southerly breezes will be gentle at 5-10 mph. Those gentle southerly breezes will stay with us tonight. Under mostly cloudy skies we are expecting to stay dry and see lows in the mid 20’s to low 30’s.
The next system developing off the California coast will set us up for a warm and wet southerly flow. That will make for windy conditions here on the High Desert Saturday. Partly to mostly cloudy skies won’t yield much precipitation until we get into Saturday evening. That will become a chance of mixed showers Saturday night that will turn to rain Sunday and carry into Monday. The next system behind that will bring heavy rain to all of California. Some of that will be spun in our direction giving us a chance of showers and warm temperatures through much of next week. Winter sports enthusiasts should be aware that we are expecting wind driven snow in the mountains Saturday. An accumulation of 8-10 inches of fresh snow is possible by Monday afternoon.
