Herd of elk on the move near Powell Butte

KTVZ

Becky Wallace said she was driving home from Bend to Prineville on Thursday morning when she came upon a herd of elk a few miles past Powell Butte.

“They were in a field with cattle, and by the time that I was able to turn the car around and go back, the elk had moved deep into the field, but I was able to get a picture and video.

“This is the first time in 6 years of living in Central Oregon that I’ve seen elk. It really made my day!!!” Wallace wrote.

She said she moved here from Colorado “and always enjoyed taking pictures and videoing the elk in Rocky Mountain National Park.”
