Wash. sheriff: Man killed parents, lived with bodies for days
SAMMAMISH, Wash. (AP) – Authorities say a man killed his parents at their Sammamish home and lived there for five days before killing himself when police arrived to check on their welfare Tuesday.
The King County Sheriff’s Office says 34-year-old Matthew Ficken may have killed them because he didn’t want his them to sell the house and move.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office identified 68-year-old Lorraine Ficken and 72-year-old Robert Ficken as homicide victims Thursday. The office says Lorraine and Robert Ficken died from shotgun wounds Jan. 10.
Lorraine Ficken had bought a house across the street from her eldest sister near Portland, her brother-in-law John Mance told The Times.
Mance says she and Robert Ficken divorced nearly a decade ago but continued to live together.
The sheriff’s office says Lorraine Ficken had given her son more than enough money to move into an apartment.
