Missing SW Washington man found in Madras
A 77-year-old man from the Vancouver, Washington area has been found by in Central Oregon, two days after he was reported missing.
Thurmal Mallory was last seen leaving his home in Clark County, Washington Mon onday morning, until Dusten Carlson and his wife came across him in the Thriftway parking lot in Madras Tuesday night.
Dusten Carlson of Madras said Wednesday that Mallory looked cold and tired, and his car’s battery needed a jump. Carlson said he drove him to the Budget Inn motel, where Mallory spent the night.
On Wednesday morning, Carlson’s wife turned on the news and saw a surprise.
“This morning, my wife said, ‘He’s on the news, they’re looking for him,'” he recalled. “And I was like, ‘What?’ So we went and got him from the motel and called the police and the sheriff’s department and helped him out.”
Carlson said Mallory told him he did not want help, but he took him to the sheriff’s office anyway. As of early Wednesday afternoon, Mallory was checked in at St. Charles Madras.
Deputies said they were concerned for Mallory’s welfare because he has a history of getting confused. Carlson backed up those claims.
