Redmond family hit by vehicle vandals – again

KTVZ

Shards of broken glass spilled across the ground of a Redmond family’s driveway early Saturday morning. Jason and Neata Ipock are looking for answers as to why all three of their vehicles were bashed with a baseball bat.

The Ipocks moved into a home on Northwest Greenwood Place to live in a quiet Redmond neighborhood. They were told it’s one of the safest places in the area.

This is the second time they’ve been victims of vandalism in the last six months.

Back in July, the Ipocks’ truck incurred nearly $10,000 worth of damage after it was covered in bird egg, key scratches and acid. Owner Jason Ipock wasn’t home the first time it happened, because he was deployed with the Navy.

Security footage from a camera on the front of the Ipocks’ house shows at least three people in hoodies and clown masks at 4 a.m., sizing up their three vehicles — two large SUVs and a pickup — which were locked and parked in the driveway, then bashing in the windows with some sort of bat.

“They escalated it so much from the first time to this time,” Neata Ipock said Sunday. “Last time, it was bird eggs. This time. it’s a baseball bat, or a bat of some kind. If it happens again, what will they bring?

“I mean, that’s just not OK for anybody,” she added. I don’t want them to get hurt, I don’t want us to get hurt, I don’t want the neighbors to get hurt. If somebody walks outside in the middle of it, anybody could get really hurt.”

The Ipocks said they have no idea why they’re being targeted.

The couple said nothing was stolen from their vehicles, so it wasn’t a robbery. That doesn’t take away from the damage that was done.

The Redmond Police Department said they’re actively investigating whoever’s responsible, but at the moment, they do not have any leads.
