Local Alert Weather – Thurs. PM

KTVZ

Happy Thursday evening, everyone!

Tonight we’ll see our skies partially clear. Overnight lows will be downright frigid in the single digits and teens. Our average low is 24 degrees at Roberts Field. Winds will be out of the southwest for us tonight gusting around 10 to 15 miles per hour.

Tomorrow starts on a dry note with cold temperatures. We’ll see some sun in the first half of the day before changes arrive for the afternoon. Highs will be warmer on Friday in the upper 30s and lower 40s, which is still below average as our average daytime high is now 48 degrees! Winds will be out of the west southwest around 10 to 15 miles per hour.

We stay dry heading into the second half of the day Friday. Overnight into Saturday is when we’ll see the chances for snow showers pick up, and we’ll see snow falling by the morning. Lows will be much warmer in the mid to upper 20s.

Heavy mountain snow is on the way for the weekend. If you are traveling into the valley expect snow by Friday night, but more snow by Saturday morning. Heading home at the end of the weekend you will see even more snow and potentially low visibility at times.

Snow levels begin at 2,800′ Saturday and we’ll see highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s, so we could see some wet snow in the afternoon, but snow will pick up at that time as well.

Accumulations in Central Oregon for the weekend are hovering between 6-12″ by the end of the day Sunday as of now. We also have a WINTER STORM WATCH in effect until Tuesday for heavy snowfall — this will likely be upgraded to a Advisory or Warning.

Daytime highs will cool through the weekend going into the beginning of next week. We’ll be in the lower 30s by Monday.
