Redmond extends school year to make up snow days

KTVZ

Redmond is joining the Central Oregon school districts extending their school year a couple of days to make up some of the time lost to closures due to the recent heavy snowfall.

The school district sent this note to parents Monday evening:

“Redmond School District Families,

In order to recapture a portion of missed instructional hours for students due to the recent snow days, we will need to extend the school year by a day and a half. This means, Thursday, June 13th and Friday, June 14th will both be FULL school days.

“Again, the last day of school for students, kindergarten through 11th grade, will be a full day with regular release times on Friday, June 14th.

“Thank you,

Redmond School District”

The Redmond school year originally was set to end with a half-day on June 13th.

June 14th also will be the new last day of school for Bend-La Pine Schools, for similar reasons.

Redmond Proficiency Academy also announced Monday that its middle and high school classes will continue two extra days, to the 14th.
