Brown says she welcomes investigation of day care death
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon Republicans are demanding an investigation into Gov. Kate Brown over an infant’s death at a state-licensed day care that occurred during the height of the governor’s re-election campaign.
Republicans say that Brown purposefully hid the death from the public’s eye for months before it was reported by the Oregonian/Oregon Live. They’re asking for an investigation from the Oregon Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Brown told reporters she would be “totally fine” with an investigation.
The state’s Early Learning Division is responsible for reporting deaths at licensed child care facilities. A follow-up from the governor’s office said that the office didn’t post the death because it was subject to an ongoing investigation.
