KTVZ

On Wednesday, Madras Police conducted a pedestrian safety enforcement operation at 4 th and ‘I’ Street.

During the two-hour operation, officers made 24 traffic stops, 14 warnings were given and 10 citations written.

Madras Police would like to remind all drivers that Oregon recognizes every intersection as a crosswalk, marked or unmarked. The definition of a crosswalk can be found online (ORS 801.220).

The Madras Police would also like to remind pedestrians to always use caution when crossing the roadway, making sure it is safe to do so. Together with the public’s support, the police departments strive to make Madras a pedestrian-safe environment for all.
