Sisters man charged with trying to lure juvenile
A 32-year-old Sisters man was arrested Thursday on more than a dozen charges, accused of attempting to have a sexual relationship with a Bend juvenile, police said.
Bend police received information earlier this week regarding Jon T. Beavert, alleging he was seeking a sexual relationship with a juvenile living in Bend, Lt. Adam Juhnke said.
“Based on the information provided to patrol officers and detectives, they used a variety of investigative techniques to confirm the identity and location of Beavert,” the lieutenant said in a news release.
Bend police detectives, assisted by a Deschutes County sheriff’s deputy, contacted Beavert in Sisters around 10 a.m. Thursday and took him into custody without incident, Juhnke said.
Through the investigation, police obtained more information and evidence to substantiate the initial allegations, as well as other crimes.
Beavert was booked into the Deschutes County Jail on one count of second-degree encouraging child sex abuse, seven counts of second-degree online sexual corruption of a child and six counts of luring a minor for sexual conduct, jail records showed. He was held on $140,000 bail.
