Four finalists named for Pacific Crest Middle School principal

Community members are invited to meet four finalists for the principal position for Pacific Crest Middle School during a public presentation Thursday at 4 p.m. at Pacific Crest. Attendees will get a chance to see presentations from the candidates and interact with them.

Finalist details:

Lisa Birk is currently assistant principal at Pacific Crest Middle School, a position she has served in for four years. Prior to that, Birk served as assistant principal and student services coordinator at Bear Creek Elementary School for four years. She also has six years of teaching experience.

Trevor Flaherty is currently principal at Terrebonne Community School in Redmond School District, a position he has served in for five years. Prior to that, Flaherty served as assistant principal at middle schools in Madras, Corvallis and Seaside. He has nine years of teaching experience.

Rolland Hayden is currently principal at Gordon Russell Middle School in Gresham, a position he has served in for five years. Prior to that, Hayden served as assistant principal of curriculum for North Salem High School for four years. He also has six years of teaching experience.

Karen Stiner is currently assistant principal at Bend Senior High School, a position she has served in for five years. Prior to that, Stiner served as co-coordinator for a Bend-La Pine Schools teacher training program for four years while serving as a teacher at High Desert Middle School. She also has 14 years of teaching experience.

The new principal will begin July 1; current principal Chris Boyd was selected to serve as principal for the new high school opening in southeast Bend in the fall of 2021.

Mary Koike was recently selected to serve as the new assistant principal at Pilot Butte Middle School beginning July 1, replacing Teri Friesen, who is retiring.
