Firefighters work to contain wildfire east of Lakeview

Firefighters with several agencies have brought a 200-acre wildfire in southeast Lake County to 80 percent containment, officials said Friday night.

The Flynn Fire broke out about 11 miles northwest of Adel, which is about 30 miles east of Lakeview, and was sending up smoke affecting visibility on state Highway 140, according to the South Centreal Oregon Fire Management Partnership.

Officials were inestigating the cause but said it was not the result of any federal prescribed burns.

By nightfall, the partnership said in a Twitter update that crews had been able to stop the spread of the fire at about 200 acres, with full containment expected Saturday.

Officials thanked firefighters with the BLM, Forest Service, Oregon Department of Forestry and Warner Valley Rural Fire Protection Agency “for a job well done!.
