Repairs to close road to Horse Butte Trailhead

The Deschutes National Forest will close Forest Road 1815 accessing Horse Butte Trailhead on Wednesday and Thursday for repairs.

Road engineers on the Bend-Fort Rock Ranger District will close the road to Horse Butte Trailhead in order to install a large culvert and build up the road surface.

Installing this culvert and improving the road condition will be safer for the public, forest officials said. But they also reminded the public to “moderate their speed on forest roads. Maintaining moderate speeds will keep road surfaces in better condition in the months and years to come.”
