Nature Conservancy seeks Juniper Hills Preserve volunteers
The Nature Conservancy invites anyone interested in maintaining Juniper Hills Preserve to participate in an overnight volunteer work party on the weekend of Saturday & Sunday, June 1 and 2.
Juniper Hills Preserve is located east of Prineville on the Crooked River in Central Oregon and harbors ancient western junipers, an outstanding diversity of native bunchgrasses and colorful fossil formations.
During this work party, volunteers will,remove old fence and collect fencing wire. Participants should bring sturdy water-resistant boots for working in areas by the springs, long-sleeved shirt and pants to wear while working, a daypack, rain gear, hiking boots, a hat, sunscreen, one or two large water bottles (drinking water will be available on site), insect repellent, a flashlight and leather or rubber soled work gloves if you have them — if you don’t, they will have gloves you can borrow.
Bring several layers of clothing to be prepared for any type of Oregon weather.
