Local Alert Weather – Tues. PM

KTVZ

Happy Tuesday evening, everyone!

Tonight our summer-like conditions will stick around — wildfire smoke smell included! For areas close to the prescribed burns in Sisters and Sunriver know you might smell the smoke tonight and in the early morning. Winds out of the northwest will push a lot of the smoke from the burn near Sisters into Bend. Winds will top around 15 to 20 miles per hour. Overnight expect mostly clear skies with winds around 5 to 10 miles per hour. Low temperatures will dip into the upper 30s and lower 40s.

Wednesday looks to be our last “summer” day for a few. We’ll see highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s once again. Mostly sunny skies are expected with a few clouds in the afternoon. Winds will gust around 25 miles per hour out of the west as the jet stream sinks south over Central Oregon.

Major changes arrive for Thursday with a temperature drop and more clouds overhead. Highs will only reach the upper 50s and lower 60s, which is about 10 degrees below normal. We’ve been in the 80s for the last few days, so you’ll notice the temperature difference. Thursday has a slight chance for showers, but Friday looks to carry a better chance.

On Friday as we see our coldest day for the extended forecast we’ll also see a chance for thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs will peak in the low to mid 50s, which is nearly 20 degrees below normal. A chance for showers and thunderstorms develops in the afternoon as warmer air begins to move back into the region.

Saturday will see mostly sunny skies east of the Cascades with a slight warm up. Temperatures will be in the mid 60s to begin the weekend. Sunday will be about 10 degrees warmer in the mid 70s, which takes us above average.

Temperatures will warm through next week getting into the upper 80s and lower 90s looking to bring us our warmest temperatures of the year so far.
