Searchers recover 2 bodies from Columbia River

UMATILLA, Ore. (AP) – Search and rescue authorities have recovered the bodies of two people earlier reported missing in the Columbia River.

Searchers recovered the bodies of Janice Arsenault, 44, and Trenton Williams, 20, from Idaho, Monday evening following a multi-day search, according to the East Oregonian .

The pair were reported missing late Saturday after the boat they were riding returned to shore without them. The boat operator said the two had been riding without life jackets on an external swim platform while the boat was moving and that he did not notice they were gone until he arrived at the shore.

Their disappearance prompted a search that spanned much of Saturday night, Sunday and Monday.
