A 29-foot travel trailer was destroyed by an overnight fire at a Madras mobile home park, Jefferson County Fire District No. 1 officials said.

A neighbor called to report the trailer fire just after midnight Tuesday in a space at the Green Spot Mobile Home Park at 1112 SW Highway 97, Captain Kasey Skaar.

The first fire crew arrived to find a 2005 29-foot Their Wanderer travel trailer already three-quarters involved, with smoke and flames coming out the front window, Skaar said. There also was an exposure with trees and power lines.

Crews quickly confirmed the two occupants, who were moving out, were not home and no one was inside.

Two engine crews worked quickly to protect exposures and put out the blaze, followed by salvage and overhaul, while a third provided water supply.

Skaar said the trailer was a complete loss, at $5,000 value, along with $4,000 contents, but there were no injuries or other damage.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Mutual-aid assistance was provided on scene by Jefferson County EMS and Madras police.
