Bend police plan ‘focused patrols’ downtown Saturday night

The Bend Police Department will be assigning multiple additional officers to focused patrols on Saturday evening in the downtown area, officials said.

“With the Bend Summer Festival and other festivities in the area, we want to continue to keep downtown safe from any criminal activity and impaired driving,” Sgt. Juli McConkey said.

“Typically, on summer weekends in Bend we have an increase in population, and especially with festivities in our downtown area, we have more people who are enjoying our City,” McConkey said.

“The Bend Police Department will have more officers visible to increase public safety. We will often have enhanced patrols when we have big events within the city of Bend.,” she added.
