Local Alert Weather – Tues. PM

KTVZ

Happy Tuesday evening, everyone!

Tonight will be one of the calmer evenings for this week. We’ll see a beautiful sunset with temperatures in the mid 70s, so maybe grab some sleeves if you’re heading out. Winds will be about 10 to 15 miles per hour. Skies will stay clear through tomorrow morning.

Wednesday looks to be our hottest day of the extended forecast with highs in the mid to upper 90s and some in the 100s. Our average daytime high at the Redmond Airport is now 82 degrees. Throughout the day on Wednesday we’ll see increasing clouds and a slight chance for thunderstorms in the second half of the day, but mainly to our southeast.

A FIRE WEATHER WARNING goes into effect at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening through Thursday night for the chance for scattered thunderstorms with lightning. The lightning could cause a fire to start and strong outflow winds could cause the fires to spread rapidly should they start.

Overnight Wednesday into Thursday we could see some nocturnal thunderstorms up and down Highway 97. Low temperatures will be quite warm in the mid to upper 50s and lower 60s.

Thursday morning starts with a break from some of the thunderstorms, but we see the chance increase once again by the afternoon. Scattered thunderstorms are likely in the second half of the day as Fire Danger becomes a major concern. Highs on Thursday will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s with breezy winds at times.

Friday looks to be calmer overhead, and we will see mostly sunny skies. Highs will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s once again.

Labor Day Weekend looks lovely across Central Oregon with highs in the mid to upper 80s with mostly sunny skies. Low temperatures will hover in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Winds will be typical for this time of year gusting 10 to 15 miles per hour.
