USFS lowering industrial fire precaution level
The Industrial Fire Precaution Level will be reduced to IFPL 1 starting at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday. The change applies to all lands managed by the Deschutes National Forest, Ochoco National Forest, Crooked River National Grassland, and Prineville District BLM.
Rain and cooler temperatures throughout Central Oregon prompted the change in IFPL. The Fire Danger Adjective Rating will also be lowered to Moderate.
Forest users should continue to implement fire precaution requirements and a Fire Watch as required under IFPL I. Fires may still burn briskly and spread rapidly on windy days, officials advised.
