Zika named House GOP assistant leader

State Rep. Jack Zika (R-Redmond) has been appointed House Republican Assistant Leader by House Republican Leader Christine Drazan ( R-Canby ). Zika, who completed his first legislative session this past summer, passed affordable housing and wildfire protection legislation, and was recently appointed to the Rules Committee.

The House Republican Assistant Leader is a member of the Republican Leader’s leadership team where they assist in the development of policy priorities and legislative strategy for the Republican Caucus.

” I’m honored that my fellow House Republicans trust me to be part of our leadership team. This leadership position gives me a stronger position to advocate for Central Oregon’s priorities, including affordable housing, wildfire prevention, and preventing more taxes and red tape that push small businesses like childcare providers out of Central Oregon, ” Zika said.

” In this new role, I strive to bring unity to our Legislature and bring balance to future policy proposals. I am excited to be a part of the new Republican leadership team that represents Oregonians from across our beautiful state and who are ready to bring some much-needed rationality to our state government.
